I’ve written about my affinity for sour candies before. There’s something about the tart kick of a sour candy that takes me back to a childhood filled with too many Warhead candies. That affinity was what attracted me to JAMS’ new Sour Green Apple Jellies offering. I headed up to Curaleaf Skokie and picked up a sample to see if they had the sour kick I desire.

JAMS Sour Green Apple Jellies, produced by Curaleaf, came as a twenty pack of gummies with 5mg of THC per piece. The ingredients are tapioca syrup, sugar, water, natural flavors, pectin, tartaric acid, malic acid, sorbitol, turmeric (color), spirulina extract (color), sodium citrate, modified food starch, medium chain triglycerides, cannabis oil, salt, and botanical terpenes.

Like the Peach Jellies from JAMS, the texture leaned into the jelly name with a moist, easy-chewing mouthfeel that was reminiscent of a slightly over gelatinized piece of jelly. The aroma and flavor were straightforward, carrying a tart artificial green apple that will be familiar to anyone that’s had a green Jolly Rancher before. The flavor was strong and stuck to the palate long after the candy was gone. While the jellies were certainly tart, they left me wanting more sour kick.

While the Sour Green Apple Jellies are labeled with the same “fast-acting” label as the Peach, I felt their onset a bit later, near the 40-minute mark. I suspect this was simply an effect of the lower per-piece dose requiring more time to fully digest. Once the effects had set in, the same mentally positive buzz that I found in the Peach set in. My awareness widened, and I became much more easygoing, even at a lower 20mg dose.

The physical aspect built as time passed, starting as light tingles on my skin before growing into stronger waves of pressure. Overall, I enjoyed the straightforward flavor (even if I could have used more sour) and the positive aspect of the JAMS buzz left me looking forward to more flavors.
