Recently an old back injury flared up and knocked me out of commission. Years ago, I would have reached for traditional painkillers, but now I use edibles to free me from the acute muscle pain. Luckily, I had recently stopped at Maribis Springfield and picked up some Bedford Grow Pineapple Bellini Gems to sample.
Bedford Grow’s Pineapple Bellini Gems come as five 20mg gummies. The ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, water, natural flavoring, gelatin, citric acid, cannabis oil, cornstarch, and potassium sorbate.
I opened the Gems jar to large bright yellow gummies, each a rounded square, slightly larger across than a Starburst candy and twice as thick. These gummies carried a gelatin heavy texture that bounced back against the teeth similar to a denser version of Jell-O.
The flavor was light with a slightly tangy tropical tone that landed somewhere between pineapple and papaya on the top end. The back end of the flavor profile was slightly bitter but only for a short moment before the entire taste disappeared cleanly from the palate.
Bedford Grow’s Pineapple Bellini Gems set in after half an hour, opening with a full body euphoric tingling and an almost anticipatory butterfly-in-the-stomach sensation. There was a sense of mental clarity that persisted until the full-effect profile unfolded at the hour-and-half mark with a tired heaviness hitting my muscles and a spaced out calm that overtook my mind.
It was at this second stage of the experience that my energy levels took a drop, eventually putting me to sleep. The next morning, my back pain had improved significantly, an effect I chalked up to the anti-inflammatory power of cannabis combined with the good night of rest the gummies induced.
