Illinois Hemp Grower’s Association (IHGA) and the UIUC Department of Crop Sciences are scheduled to co-host this weekend a Hemp Research Open House as part of Crop Sciences’ Agronomy Days: A New Vision.
The open house is set for 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22, and is free to the public. The University of Illinois Fruit Farm, located at 2711 South Race Street in Urbana, will host the event. Registration can be completed here.
The 3-hour open house is billed as a place to “Propel your knowledge of small-scale hemp production by accessing ongoing hemp research while networking with other hemp industry professionals. Visit the hemp-breeding nursery and explore variety and agronomic trials to understand ways to improve profits and production. Explore the campus’ small-scale production growing facilities and learn how to prune hemp, clone plants, and more.”
“Agronomy Days: A New Vision” is honoring its robust 65-year history. Agronomy Days has evolved into a season-long series of opportunities that invites stakeholders and community members to interact with experts at the College of Agricultural, consumers, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) research farms.
Dr. Dokyoung (D.K.) Lee, who is the crop sciences professor and director of online masters programs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, wants to showcase the UIUC, its hemp program, and hemp studies. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, contact Lee at [email protected]. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet access needs.
