There was once a time when only a few sleep-focused cannabis products were on the Illinois market. Luckily, those days are over, and it feels like a new nighttime product hits the market every week. I know firsthand how difficult insomnia can be, so when I spot a new offering, I always aim to review it. I recently discovered Bits Pomegranate R&R gummies with CBN, so I headed up to Zenleaf Prospect Heights and picked up a sample to try.
Bits Pomegranate R&R gummies, created by Verano, come as a 20 pack of gummies with 5mg of THC and 5mg of CBN each. Each gummy also contains ashwagandha and lemon balm. The ingredients are sugar, water, pectin, sodium bicarbonate, natural flavor, CBN, cannabis extract, ashwagandha, lemon balm, sodium citrate, natural coloring, and MCT oil.
Small maroon triangles, no larger than a dime across and just less than half-an-inch thick, filled the bag. The sugar coating brightened up the color considerably and provided a dry outer shell that kept the gummies from sticking. The texture was stiff and split like a hard gumdrop when bit.
On the palate these gummies struck a balance between artificial tart and sweet pomegranate and a bitter herbal notes of cannabis oil and lemon balm. The flavor lingered as well, leaving a long lasting impression of the cannabis oil note.
The Pomegranate R&R gummies took about 45 minutes to really hit me but packed a considerable CBN punch when they did, weighing my eyelids down and inducing a thick mental fog. Eventually, this eyelid heaviness spread into the rest of my body, creating a heaviness that helped dampen my energy levels.
While most CBN products leave me with a choice to go to bed or stay up, these forced me to sleep at the hour and a half mark. In the end, the herb-heavy flavor profile wasn’t a personal favorite, but the strong sleep inducing effects made this a good fit for my particular needs.
