Diabetes is a metabolic disease with which more and more people are struggling. This condition is manifested by abnormal blood glucose levels caused by a disturbance in the pancreas. In diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin or this insulin is misused by the cells of the human body. This disease has a group of symptoms that can be helpful in diagnosing the disease. In patients with suspected diabetes mellitus, the following were observed: fatigue, weakness, excessive appetite, increased thirst, sudden weight loss or polyuria.
Diabetes mellitus as a group of metabolic diseases is characterized by hyperglycemia, which is associated with dysfunction and failure of various organs. Among other things, the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels are indicated.
Can CBD Oil Help Relieve Symptoms Of Diabetes?
Learn about this in today’s article.
What are the types of diabetes?
WHO, the World Health Organization, distinguishes 4 types of diabetes: type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, other specific types of diabetes and diabetes in pregnant women. The most common forms of diabetes are type 1 and type 2.
Type 1 diabetes most often affects children and young people. In this type, the pancreas does not produce insulin, which is needed for glucose metabolism, and is caused by the almost complete destruction of the pancreatic β cells. Although the factors causing damage to the pancreas are not known, genetics are known to play an important role. Patients with type 1 diabetes have a genetic predisposition to autoimmune diseases.
Symptoms of type 1 diabetes appear suddenly and include, but are not limited to, polyuria, increased thirst, drowsiness, weakness, weight loss, susceptibility to infections, or even decreased visual acuity.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common type of the disease, it occurs in approximately 80% of patients. There are two causes of type 2 diabetes mellitus: impaired insulin secretion or insulin resistance. In this case, two factors leading to the development of the disease are mentioned: independent of the patient – genetic, and environmental – most often associated with improper nutrition and negligible physical activity.
Type 2 diabetes develops gradually, initially we can talk about a genetically determined disturbance in the production of insulin secretion and the second factor – obesity.
The development of the disease is most often accompanied by obesity, high cholesterol, hypertension and ischemic heart disease.
Gestational diabetes, as the name suggests, affects pregnant women. The disease most often appears in healthy women and disappears after the end of pregnancy. The disorder is said to be caused by physiological changes in pregnant women, such as placental hormone-induced insulin resistance, impaired insulin secretion, and increased hepatic glucose secretion.
Diabetes: Who is at risk?
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, i.e. one in which the body produces antibodies that destroy its own cells, which are responsible for the production of insulin. Children and young people under 30 are most often exposed to this type. Why a particular patient has type 1 diabetes is still unknown. However, certain genetic predispositions are identified, as well as the environmental factors that complement them.
The situation is different with type 2 diabetes, which is the most common form of diabetes. Although the exact reasons for the development of this disease are unknown, several risk factors can be distinguished: obesity, sedentary lifestyle and physical inactivity, a family history of diabetes, and the occurrence of gestational diabetes in women.
How does CBD affect the body with diabetes?
CBD products help more and more patients. However, it is worth remembering to consult your doctor to include CBD in your diet. Many patients use CBD oils for supplementation to alleviate the symptoms of type 2 diabetes. CBD oils contain compounds that modulate the endocannabinoid system, which, among other things, minimize the risk of several serious complications related to this disease.
CBD oil has anti-inflammatory properties and supports the hormonal balance. The use of CBD oils also has a beneficial effect on regeneration – they have a calming effect and help to achieve a healthy and restful sleep.
Although research into the effects of CBD on diabetes is still ongoing, several relationships have already been identified. It has been shown that cannabidiol lowers the level of “bad” cholesterol, reduces the amount of sugar in the blood and increases the level of insulin production in the pancreas.
Research also shows that cannabidiol is beneficial for the eyes. It has been shown to protect the eye from the development of the many leaky blood vessels associated with diabetic retinopathy. Cannabidiol, which acts as an antioxidant, may also protect the retina.
By using CBD oil, we can even regulate our appetite, and improper nutrition and excessive desire to eat often contribute to the onset of type 2 diabetes. Regulating appetite can help shape a proper lifestyle and prevent obesity.
Are CBD oils sweet?
CBD hemp oils have a high content of health-promoting cannabinoids that can be an ideal supplement to your diet. CBD is anti-inflammatory and analgesic.
You can find CBD oils in our store in Alba Hemp, in various flavors. The taste of CBD oils is somewhat individual as each person has different taste buds. The taste of CBD can be felt as earthy, grassy, and some people will sense nutty notes as well. It is also often compared to the taste of marijuana.
The taste of CBD oil depends on the extraction process. These are referred to as terpenes and flavonoids. The former are aromatic oils, and flavonoids are substances derived from the flowers of the plant. They are responsible for the taste and aroma of CBD oil.
The characteristic and natural taste of CBD oil can, however, be broken with flavored oils. Flavored CBD oils will be a perfect proposition for everyone who does not like its natural taste. Alba Hemp’s offer includes, among others, sets that will allow you to test various flavor options. Among the available products you can find, for example, raspberry or orange-flavored hemp oils.
The prices of CBD oils in our offer start from PLN 29. You can find a complete product list at the CBD Alba Hemp store.
