As a big fan of lemon-heavy strains, I imagined Lemon Tree would be the perfect personal cultivar. After sampling and growing a cut, it’s been a “don’t meet your heroes” lesson with the flavor leaning more into tangy diesel than tangy lemon. While my Lemon Tree didn’t deliver what I was looking for, I’ve still developed a love for the strain. Legends has added Gelonade, a Lemon Tree descendant, to its lineup. I procured a sample to see how it stacked up.
Gelonade is a hybrid cross of Lemon Tree and Gelato #41. This batch of flower tested at 0.69% Delta 9 THC, 21.13% THCa, and 21. 82% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.53% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, α-humulene, and cis-nerolidol being the heaviest.
This gram was three small-rounded popcorn buds and one tiny extra bud to make the weight. Deep-forest green flower contrasted against wiry fire-orange hairs, splotches of purple, and a trichome frost concentrated at the creases that had just begun the process of ambering. These buds were very dense and ground with a fresh stickiness.
The aroma inside the bag was a blend of lemon peel, freshly turned soil, tangy diesel, and hints of cut rose at the finish. Gelonade was much more fruit forward on the palate with grape, berry, and orange appearing alongside the lemon and diesel from the aroma. Lingering in its tanginess, Gelonade stuck to the palate after the exhale.
Gelonade struck right in the center of the sativa-indica spectrum providing a spacious and relaxed mindscape without pushing my energy levels up or down. My constantly running inner monologue quieted, giving me space to think, or if I chose, really sit back and relax.
Physically, I felt an all over release and a wave of inflammation relief hit my joints and muscles. Overall, Gelonade was a good fit for centering myself after a stressful experience and a flavorful fruit forward flower. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
