It’s all well and good to talk about CBD for dogs and how awesome it is, but you know what’s even better? Showing you how great it is!
Meet Benny, the famous Ice Skating Dog. I want to tell you a little bit about our friend Benny, and how CBD for dogs made his life just a little bit better!
Benny The Ice Skating Dog
Back in 2019, I met Benny and his owner/trainer Cheryl Del Sangro, at SuperZoo in Las Vegas.
Cheryl adopted Benny, who is now 9, back when he was a puppy. He’d spent 6 months in a kill shelter in Utah and was eventually put on the euthanasia list. The day before he was scheduled to be put down, a local Las Vegas rescue saved him and brought him to Las Vegas. Despite being a healthy and happy pup, he didn’t get much interest. Then Cheryl saw him: “As soon as I saw his eyes in the photo I knew he was meant for me. I filled out the forms, finally got to meet him and it was instant love.”
As a former pro skater, Cheryl spends a lot of time on the ice. She started training Benny to skate after she noticed him having a blast on the ice while helping a friend with a photoshoot. And it didn’t take long. According to Cheryl, Benny was able to stand and skate on his own the very first day!
Typically you can find Benny skating at the local community rinks around Las Vegas, raising money for The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas.

But it isn’t just community skates for charity. Back in November 2019, Benny wowed the crowd during the second intermission of the Golden Knights game against the Calgary Flames for the first time, and has been back several times since!
And! Benny is one of five 2021 AKC Awards for Canine Excellence recipients. He won the Exemplary Companion category. This category recognizes dogs without formal training or certification that have nonetheless distinguished themselves in some way and have made a meaningful contribution to their owners or communities. Way to go Benny!
CBD For Dogs
As we said, it’s one thing to tell you how great CBD for dogs is, but it’s a completely different ball game to actually show you.
When I met Benny, he was suffering from a rash on his neck. Cheryl had tried a bunch of different things, but nothing seemed to work. The poor guy was scratching and sore, and Cheryl really wanted to give him some relief.
So, I brought out the big guns, some CBD salve, and lathered it on. I sent Cheryl home with some too, and for the next few weeks she diligently applied the salve to Benny’s neck.
Fast forward a few weeks and Benny’s neck was good as new. No scratching, no raw spots, fur growing back thick and beautiful.
