As the legal cannabis market continues to mature, Illinoisans continue to have more and more interesting options available to them. Revolution Cannabis recently launched its Future Flora pheno-hunting program. Revolution is asking all flavor chasers and connoisseurs to help choose the superior phenotype out of two options.
Revolution’s first strain hunt features two final phenotypes from a collaboration between Seed Junky and Cookies. The strain is Paradise, a sativa-leaning cross of Bubblegum and Gelato. Revolution has narrowed its decision down to two phenotypes: Paradise (pheno #6) and Paradise (pheno #9).
Future Flora is Revolution’s new community pheno hunting program where they invite passionate enthusiasts and patients to smell, smoke, taste, and share their perspective. Future Flora offers the consumer an opportunity to put their expertise to work and help hunt for the superior phenotype.
Revolution is looking to include diverse perspectives in the selection of its new strain to ensure the company is “offering the finest experience to our consumers.” According to its website, “Through Future Flora—our community pheno hunting program—we can continue to push the boundaries of cultivation, innovation, and genetic diversity, staying true to our ethos of Higher Science and Higher Standards.”
Now with Future Flora launched, when a situation arises where Revolution has closely matched cultivars, the team will release them to the public. Consumers can try one or all phenotypes and share thoughts in a brief questionnaire on details such as aroma, taste, effects, and experience. The top rated phenos will become part of Revolution’s cultivar lineup.

A pheno hunt, short for phenotype hunt, is a process in which breeders and cultivators search for the best offspring from two parent cannabis strains. The goal is to identify plants with the most desirable traits, such as aroma, flavor, potency, yield, and effects. By carefully evaluating each offspring or “phenotype,” breeders can isolate the finest qualities from the parent strains’ lineage.
