When nuEra announced their acquisition of ieso and the establishment of the Interstate 420 label in May of this year, it piqued my interest, mainly because the cultivation facility is located less than a half-hour drive from my home. While I’ve sampled the Lime Skunk Muffins vape cartridge, I hadn’t had the chance to experience any of the new company’s flower products until now. Recently, I made a visit to nuEra Champaign and picked up an eighth of Fire Berries from Interstate 420.

Fire Berries is a hybrid cross of Crunch Berries and Fire Alien Kush. This batch of flower tested at 1.187% THC, 23.333% THCa, and 24.52% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 0.894% of the total weight with β-myrcene, α-pinene, limonene, and linalool being the most prevalent.

This eighth came as a handful of small popcorn buds with an off-green amber base tone, accented with splotches of purple and a light dusting of amber trichomes. There was considerable sugar leaf left on these buds and a dry touch on the finger, but a run through the grinder helped to fluff things up.

The aroma inside the mylar was a unique blend of overripe plum, red wine, fresh berry, hops, and cut grass. The flavor was muted in comparison to the overripe fruit heavy aroma with light notes of red wine and cut grass. The extra sugar leaf material made for a harsher bowl and taking the time to sort them out before loading my dose led to a better experience.

The effect profile leaned hard into the indica side of the spectrum, an effect often found in heavily ambered trichome carrying flower. A heavy mental fog set in at the finish of my bowl, clouding my awareness and decimating my ability to focus. Physically, a strong weighted blanket sensation built in my body. I gave myself over to the heavy relaxation and tuned into the TV for a solid hour of couchlock. This heavy indica sensation made Fire Berries best at the end of the day as a nightcap.
