One of the product categories I’ve long awaited in the Prairie State is the high-dose single-serve option. While many blame Illinois regulations for this lack of options, a certain amount of profit seeking is involved as well, further discouraging what should be a thriving part of the market. One of the first cultivators breaking through this wall is In Grown Farms, which has collaborated with Journeyman to offer infused 2-ounce lemonades. I recently picked up for this review a sample of all three flavors available in Illinois, including Tart, Berry, and Tropical.

Journeyman lemonade shots came as 2-ounce shot with 100mg of THC in each flavor: Berry Lemonade, Tart Lemonade, and Tropical Lemonade. The ingredients were filtered water, sugar, natural flavoring extracts, malic acid, gum arabic, sodium benzoate, coconut oil, cannabis extract, and natural coloring.

The attached cap acted as a 10mg-measuring cup. All three flavors carried the same color and mouthfeel, an opaque-white and slightly syrupy version of sweet lemonade. The 2-ounce shot went down easy with a 10mg “capful” dose being only a sip.

This similarity carried over into the flavor as well. All three were a slight variation on a sugar-forward lemonade base. The Tropical Lemonade added additional top notes of mango, sweet papaya, and banana. The Berry Lemonade provided sweet-artificial strawberry and blueberry tones, and the Tart Lemonade leaned into the citrus flavor by adding fresh lime to the mix. All three flavors were very sweet and would have mixed well with Sprite, soda water, or other mixers.

Journeyman lemonades came on slower than anticipated, taking a full 45 minutes before really becoming noticeable. When they did kick in, the effects seemed to hit all at once. A clean-slate mental state, including a cessation of my intrusive internal monologue came on, accompanied by an overall physical lightness that I attributed to a considerable reduction in inflammation in my joints and back. I remained relaxed and clearheaded for a solid hour before my energy levels took a dip and I required a snack (or a nap) to reset myself. In Grown Farms has successfully brought the high-dose single-serve option to Illinois in a delicious, easy to use package. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
