There is a level of cannabis knowledge that can only be gained through hands-on cultivation experience. Not only do growers develop a deeper appreciation for the plant, but they also tap into broader trends, such as popular strains and cultivation methods. Throughout my own journey as a cultivator, one strain that has captivated my attention is Freakshow, created by Humboldt Seed Company. Recently, Rythm introduced a descendant of this intriguing cultivar named Superfreak, so I stopped into Rise Effingham to pick up a sample of live resin to review.
Superfreak is a hybrid F6 phenotype of the sativa mutant-strain, Freakshow. This batch of live resin tested at 1.703% THC, 75.721% THCa, and 77.424% total cannabinoids. The most prevalent terpenes were a-pinene at 5.086%, β-myrcene at 3.99%, β-pinene at 1.87%, limonene at 1.6% and β-caryophyllene at 0.91%.
A layer of wet sunflower yellow badder covered the bottom of the jar with small clear-rounded diamonds studded throughout. The combination of small diamonds and wet badder gave the live resin a jelly-like consistency on my tool.
Lime zest and sweet cream stood out immediately in the aroma, creating a key-lime-pie scent. This sweet and tangy combination was followed closely by a complex green blend of jalapeno, coriander and olive. The flavor carried over some of the lime zest flavors on the inhale, but the exhale delivered a roasty peanut butter note, followed by hints of sweet berries.
Superfreak built slowly, starting as a light relaxation before ramping up to a fully spaced out daze. My focus was gone, and as I chased thoughts around my head, I lost my place in conversations and eventually caught myself literally staring at the ceiling. Physically, the same slow build started as light tingles in my arms before becoming a heavy, tiring weight in my core and head. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
