While I’ve become firmly planted in my belief that cannabis is an extremely complex plant and the real secrets to the effects go far beyond simply terpenes and cannabinoids, I’m still fascinated by the consumer fixation with THC. Any budtender will tell you that a large percentage of the dispensary consumer base is still chasing high THC strains. That’s why I still get a kick when we get to add a strain to our “Thirty % Plus” review series. Yum Yum from Verano, which I recently found at Zenleaf Prospect Heights, is our newest addition.
Yum Yum is a hybrid cross of GG4 and Creme de la Chem and White Tangie Haze. This batch of flower tested at 1.54% THC, 30.985% THCa, and 34.786% total cannabinoids.
Two large-rounded chunky flowers made up the eighth. The underlying green flower was a very dark forest green, but the trichome frost gave them a more yellow-amber hue at the surface. Thin and light orange hairs were dried against the surface of the flower and obscured by the dense trichome covering.
The aroma in the jar was bright. Top notes of tangy lemon, burnt orange, and the telltale chemical hint of terpinolene obscured undertones of ginger, sage, and earth. The smoke carried the burnt orange and ginger alongside a sweeter note, reminiscent of fresh carrots that dominated the flavor profile.
Yum Yum set in quickly and seemingly all at once, creating a playful, irreverent headspace and a strong sensation of pressure in my arms and legs. I can’t overstate how sharp the come up was, with the effects hitting me as one wave right after finishing a bowl.
Goofy, with a boosted mood, I found the best fit for Yum Yum was just before socializing by making me a better companion. Overall, I enjoyed the tangy flavor profile and heavy hitting silliness of the effects. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
