Understanding Lab Reports can be very complicated and not easy to read. This can be frustrating when you’re trying to buy a new product or ensure the company you’re using is providing a quality product. 

Lab Reports are most often referred to as “COAs”, standing for Certificate of Analysis. A Certificate of Analysis is a document provided by the lab or company to confirm the product meets its quality specifications. The most common Certificate of Analysis is a potency test. This test will show and ensure that the product has the number of cannabinoids inside, as advertised.

Such as, if you buy a 600mg tincture, you want to make sure that you’re actually getting 600mg worth! One common problem with this is, that it’s usually a math equation that you have to do to find out if the COA has that 600mg or not! This can be very confusing and not easy to do on your own! 

Most lab reports will read the amount of mg/ml. The way you find out your total product amount is by taking the mg/ml and multiplying it by the total volume of ml in the product. For example, if the COA reads 10mg/ml and your product is a 30ml tincture. Then, you take 10mg x 30m = 300mg. I’m sure your thinking there has to be an easier way for everyone to understand!?
